This article focuses on the history of Uzbek literature translation development, especially the interpretation and introduction of Chinese literature in Uzbekistan. The development process can be divided into several historical eras: early translations, Soviet influence, and post-Soviet development of literary translation. The first translations of many Persian and Arabic works into Uzbek appeared in Uzbekistan from the 14th to 19th centuries. Unfortunately, there was no evidence of the translation of Chinese literature into the Uzbek language. During the Soviet Union period, Russian influenced Uzbek culture and literature. The introduction of Chinese literature was mainly based on Russian translations, and there were some interpretations of Chinese literature from Russian into Uzbek. Upon Uzbekistan’s Independence, the translation of Chinese literature into the Uzbek language was increased and developed.
This paper intends to analyze the translation and introduction of Chinese literature in Uzbekistan from beginning to end, using a comparative method of two translations of Lao She. It is believed to promote cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between Uzbekistan and China.
