Abstract

In the text of the manuscript «Divan lugat at-Turk» by Mahmud Kashgari, in accordance with the rules of Turkic spelling, some letters are accompanied by double diacretic signs: fatḥa and kesra or ḍamma and kesra. In addition, some words are displayed with different letters. These facts recorded in the dictionary are not accidental. And they are connected with the fact that the compiler, along with written literary forms of words, used different phonetic variants of these forms, as well as their dialect correspondences.

This article reveals the reasons for these facts, issues of their phonetic interpretation and transformation.
