The Arab world is diverse and colorful. Each Arab country has its own culture and literature. Modern Iraqi literature, particularly narrative writing, displays its national characteristics through its fruitfulness and originality of the author's style. By the middle of the 20th century, as a result of the influence of world literary processes, a number of Iraqi writers created works that corresponded to the worldview, values, and national characteristics of the Arab people. By this time, the genre of the "story" (القصة القصيرة- al-qissa al-qasira) had become one of the leading genres of Iraqi literature. Such principles in the Iraqi narrative of Abd Wahab Amin, Jafar al-Khalili, Khalaf Shawqi al-Dudi, Ibrahim Salih, Mikhail Tesi, Nuri Sobit, Abdur Razzaq al-Sheikh Ali, Mahdi Isa al-Sakar, Salah Salman, Edmond Sabri, Abdulhak Fadil, Abdulmajid This can be seen in the works of Lutfi, Fuad al-Takerli, Majid ar-Rubaie, Abdumalik Nuri, Yusuf al-Haydari and others. Abdurrahman Majid ar-Rubaie is one of the brightest figures of modern Iraqi literature. The author's work can be divided into four periods. The first period included the years 1966-1969, during which three collections of his stories were published. The second period of the writer's work corresponds to the years 1970-1975. The third period of Majid al-Rubaie's work corresponds to the years 1976-1979. By the 80s of the 20th century, a new era began in Majid al-Rubaie's work. During this period, one of his main tasks was to highlight the history of his people, to continue the traditional features of the genre in the process of new artistic and methodological research.
