In world linguistics today, the study of a language based on the principles of diachrony and synchrony is designated as an urgent task. The history of the Chinese language spans almost forty centuries, and the two branches of the same language, Wenyan and Baihua, are undergoing periods of gradual development. Changes related to Chinese grammar, vocabulary and phonetics cause a lot of controversy and are now of great practical importance. In Chinese linguistics, the historical development of wenyan is studied from different angles. Today it turned out that there are questions in the study of not only the grammatical structure of the Wenyan and Baihua languages, but also in the study of their methodological, semantic-pragmatic, linguistic-cultural, cognitive-conceptual features. These studies show that there is still a theoretical gap in the lexical and grammatical formation of baihua, the diachronic aspects of its development. This article examines the formation and development of the Chinese language Baihua, which served as the basis of modern Putunghua. From this point of view, this article discusses the issue of the formation and development of the Chinese language Baihua as the basis of the modern Chinese language.
