This article examines the cognitive factors in Egyptian foreign policy from 1936 to 2011. The foreign policy decisions of Shah Farrukh and Presidents Jamal Abdul Nasser, Anwar Sadat and Hosni Mubarak were analyzed and the reasons influencing them were determined. Also, the main events related to Egypt’s foreign policy, the form and principles of foreign political behavior, and the mechanism of decision-making are researched, the similarities are compared, the differences are highlighted as well. The main features of Egyptian foreign policy are the perception of international politics of certain leaders revealed through their emotions and social affiliation. The realities that formed the perceptions of the leaders about geopolitics and external threats were clarified, and all the decisions related to foreign policy were actually related to internal factors, the victories and defeats of the Egyptian presidents in foreign policy affect not only the fate of the country, but also their personal lives.
