Abstract

Non-native speakers navigating a new language often face significant challenges in understanding the subtleties of language use, including implications, social cues, and contextual differences. This limitation in understanding the subtleties of communication hinders their ability to participate effectively in conversations, understand cultural references, and integrate seamlessly into diverse language settings. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a comprehensive framework that enables non-native speakers to decipher the complexities of language, facilitate more accurate communication and cultural adaptation.

This study aims to address the above challenges by investigating the application of pragmatism and discourse analysis as essential tools to enhance language understanding among non-native speakers. Pragmatism, which explores contextual and implicit meanings in the use of language, along with discourse analysis, which examines broader structures of communication in different contexts, forms the core of this research.
